It is her commanding presence and explosive stage personality along with her dynamic and versatile voice that has made Vanessa Campagna a fan favorite. These traits along with her passion to perform have earned her the opportunity to work with some of the most successful entertainers in the music industry and at many of the most prestigious music venues across the country. It is her diversity, yet vocal purity that earned her the respect of world-renowned multi-award winning, director/composer, Marvin Hamlisch; who claimed, “Vanessa is the real deal”. She was both honored and humbled when he asked her to join him for a variety of shows with the National, Buffalo Philharmonic, and Pittsburgh Symphonies. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said after one of her shows, “…the blossoming star power and whopping voice of young Vanessa Campagna shined brightly” and in the words of the Buffalo News, “Vanessa is a precociously gifted vocal powerhouse and a mature singer reminiscent of a young Celine Dion.”
Her first big break came when she was only 10 years old and was chosen out of 24,000 youngsters to appear on CBS’ Star Search. Since then, she has shared the stage with some of the greatest artists such as Reba, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Idina Menzel, and many more.
Vanessa’s versatility enabled her to land the soulful theme song for the television show, Bar Karma, which aired on Current (CURNT) TV. She was part of the 2013 OSCAR winning team who collaborated on the music and lyrics for the Academy award winning documentary/short, Inocente, which aired on MTV. Because of her talents and accomplishments, Vanessa herself was the subject of a documentary. WQED-TV (PBS affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA) filmed a 30 minute documentary, “Vanessa’s Story”, which gave a personal look at her passion for performing and provided insight into the not so every-day life of this young woman and what it takes to balance a career and a typical young life.
Vanessa has always been passionate about brightening the spirits of others through her music. ‘Alzheimer’s Music Connect,’ developed a technology to help improve quality of life and provide a focus of attention for the alzheimer & dementia patients. Vanessa was overjoyed when they approached her about recording albums for their project. Vanessa recorded two “era style” albums, covering artists such as, Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and many others, along with a Christmas Album full of the most popular classic Christmas songs.
She has also released three of her own Christmas albums as well; “Believe,” “Simply Christmas,” & her most recent, “Home For The Holidays.”
Vanessa recorded her first self titled album, as well as her sophomore album, “Can You Hear Me Now,” in Nashville, TN. On her third album, “For You”, Vanessa wrote all but one of the songs and co-produced the album. It was this CD that captured the attention of some of the top writers and producers working out of Nashville today. Vanessa continues to work in Nashville with the best of the best, singing, producing, and writing music with A listers such as, multi #1 hit songwriter and producer Derek George, Liz Rose, Chuck Jones, Tim Owens, Jonathan Perkins and mega-hit maker Desmond Child. It was Desmond, that took her to Miami, and introduced her to the Latin Music scene, at the LAMUSA Awards. (Latin Songwriters Hall Of Fame Awards.) There, accompanied by the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Vanessa opened the show with a tribute to Latin songwriting great, César Portillo de la Luz, singing one of his hit songs; “Contigo En La Distancia.”
In Vanessa’s eyes, dreams are meant to come true! Her passion for music continues to grow and shine. The sky truly is the limit for this bright young star.
